Whistler, BC: Whistler Olympic Park invites all women to the 4th annual “Women’s Ski Day” on Saturday, January 25, 2020. For only $20, women can register for a special program which includes a beginner or intermediate ski lesson and an après event. Furthermore, all female park visitors, including those that are not registered for the paid program, will receive a 20% discount on day tickets for cross-country skiing and on ski rentals, a 20% discount on women’s apparel in the park’s retail shop, and can participate in a free guided afternoon social ski.
The day’s special paid program will start with group ski lessons, suited for women 19 years and older. All lessons are coached by top female instructors and are available for beginners and intermediate skiers, with classic and skate options. An optional social ski led by female guides in the afternoon is then followed by the après event. Aside from an inspiring panel discussion about Women in Sport with prominent female guest speakers, participants can enjoy mulled wine, snacks, gifts and prizes ($20 registration fee for paid program does not include trail tickets and rentals).
“No previous experience is needed. The event is an accessible avenue for those new to Nordic skiing to learn the basics from all-female coaches, and for those who want to improve on existing skills. The all-female environment creates an encouraging and inclusive atmosphere, and participants can connect with future ski partners with similar ability levels”, explains Tameika Evans, Marketing Manager at Whistler Olympic Park.
Pre-registration is required for the special program (lesson & après session) as spaces are limited. Registration is possible by phone at 604-964-0059, or on site at Guest Services. Women that do not participate in the paid program will still receive the discounts on ski trail tickets and rentals (without registration), also the social ski does not require registration. Women’s Ski Day is organized with the support of Coast Outdoors and Whistler Cooks.
