Whistler Olympic Park (WOP) is a world-class Nordic sport and recreation venue located in the beautiful Callaghan Valley, just south of Whistler. Home to Olympic legacy facilities, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, biathlon and a variety of recreational programs, WOP welcomes athletes, families, school groups and outdoor enthusiasts throughout the winter season.
We are currently hiring a Nordic Retail Advisor to join our Guest Services team. This role combines exceptional customer service with a passion for Nordic sport and outdoor gear. You’ll help guests find the right equipment, apparel and accessories for their adventures, provide knowledgeable product recommendations, and help create a welcoming and engaging retail experience. If you love outdoor gear, enjoy connecting with people and know your skis from your poles, we would love to hear from you. Please note that reliable transportation is required to successfully work at Whistler Olympic Park. Our beautiful location is not serviced by public transit.
Job Overview
Position: Nordic Retail Advisor
Department: Whistler Olympic Park – Guest Services
Status: Temporary Full-Time
Housing: Affordable staff housing available for Full-Time employees
Schedule: Must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, peak winter periods and holidays
Location: Whistler Olympic Park, Callaghan Valley
Wage: $22.50 per hour + commission
Start Date: November 2, 2026
What You’ll Do
- Welcome guests and create a friendly, memorable retail experience.
- Help guests select Nordic equipment, apparel and accessories based on their needs, activity and experience level.
- Provide knowledgeable recommendations on Nordic products including skis, boots and poles.
- Help guests with equipment fitting, including boot fitting and pole sizing.
- Share your enthusiasm and knowledge of Nordic sport and outdoor recreation.
- Develop strong product knowledge and confidently explain product features, sizing and use.
- Process purchases, returns and exchanges accurately using the point-of-sale system.
- Contribute to sales goals and overall retail performance.
- Restock products and maintain clean, organized and visually appealing retail displays.
- Support merchandising, promotions and inventory management, including receiving, labelling and storing products.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needs.
- Share guest feedback and product insights to help improve our retail offerings.
- Respond professionally to guest questions, concerns and complaints.
- Work collaboratively with Guest Services and other WOP teams.
- Support events and other operational areas as required.
- Act as a positive brand ambassador for Whistler Olympic Park.
- Carry out Whistler Sport Legacies’ customer service philosophy: AIM – All Interactions Matter.
What You Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous retail, merchandising and customer service experience, ideally within a sporting goods or outdoor environment.
- A genuine interest in outdoor gear, winter sports and exceptional customer service.
- Knowledge and appreciation of Nordic skiing, including classic and skate, is preferred.
- Knowledge of snowshoeing, biathlon, ski jumping or sport and recreation operations is an asset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate cash handling skills.
- Confidence working independently and taking initiative.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and remain professional in a busy environment.
- Strong time management skills.
- POS system experience is an asset.
- A valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence is required.
- A satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required prior to starting employment.
- Fluency in English is required; French is an asset.
- A positive, reliable and can-do attitude.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in variable winter weather conditions.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
- Reliable winter transportation is required, as Whistler Olympic Park is not serviced by public transit.
