Whistler, BC: At end of day today/Monday, March 16, Whistler Sport Legacies will suspend operations at its three Olympic legacy venues (Whistler Olympic Park, Whistler Sliding Centre, Whistler Athletes’ Centre). This difficult decision was made in light of the continued spread of COVID-19 in Canada, and is a proactive measure to assist in reducing the potential spread of the virus.

For Whistler Olympic Park and the Whistler Sliding Centre, this means that operations are closed down for the remainder of the winter season, with the prospect of re-opening for regular summer operations in late June. At the Whistler Athletes’ Centre accommodation facility, operations are halted until further notice until the situation improves. The health and well-being of guests, athletes, staff and community are always the organisation’s highest priority.

Existing public activity and sport bookings for the remainder of the winter season will be refunded, and Guest Services teams continue to be available for questions. To alleviate the burden on staff, pay will be extended through the next weeks.

Whistler Sport Legacies’ thoughts are with those directly affected by the virus, the tirelessly working health care personnel, and all those who assist communities to cope with this unusual situation.
