Whistler, BC: Those who want to try sliding sports can do so at the Whistler Sliding Centre’s “Discover Day” on Saturday, November 10, 2018.

On that day, participants will have the opportunity to join introductory one-time sessions for the three sliding sports. With a cost of only $20 for luge and $50 for bobsleigh and skeleton, these programs are affordably priced for young Canadian residents (pricing details below). All sessions are professionally coached by the BC Sliding Development Centre’s head coaches. No previous experience is needed. Sliding starts at low entry points of the track, so participants can experience the thrill of sliding in a beginner-friendly way!

The “Discover Day” is the kick-off to the local sliding season 2018/2019. A variety of programs for all skill levels to learn luge, bobsleigh or skeleton will be available from November to March. All programs are facilitated by the BC Sliding Development Centre (www.whistlerslidingcentre.com/slidingsports).

A number of the introductory "Discover" sessions will be held for beginners. Multi-day skeleton and bobsleigh schools will be offered that teach participants the basics of steering their own sled. Seasonal programs for luge, skeleton and bobsleigh will be running with multiple training opportunities per week, they are open for both recreational and competitive athletes.

The returning head coaches Arnita Ancena (luge), Ryan Taal (bobsleigh) are joined this season by the Centre’s newest addition, skeleton head coach John Farrow, who is a two-time Olympian for Australia. John recently finished his active career, after competing in his second Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang in 2018.
