Whistler, BC: Good and bad news for cross-country skiers: From Monday, March 16 onwards, Ski Callaghan will reduce its operation from seven to five days a week. Furthermore, Whistler Olympic Park and its trail system will be closed starting Monday. However, cross-country skiing will still be possible on the upper Callaghan trails of the joint venture between Whistler Olympic Park (WOP), and Callaghan Country Wilderness Adventures (CCWA)! Callaghan Country’s Journeyman Lodge will remain open until April 6th.

Five days per week (open Fridays to Tuesdays, closed on Wednesdays & Thursdays), skiers can access all upper Ski Callaghan trails surrounding the Journeyman Lodge through the Callaghan Country gate and via the Mainline trail. A shuttle up Mainline will be provided on weekends to transport skiers from the Callaghan Country Base to the snowline. The upper trails are still in great winter condition due to their high elevation, and Ski Callaghan hopes to keep this area available to public until Easter Monday, April 6.

2015/2016 Extra Early Bird Season Passes on Sale as of Tuesday, March 17

While this winter has been the most challenging one yet, with warm and wet weather and an abnormally low snowpack, Ski Callaghan is already looking ahead to next season. The Extra Early Bird sale for season passes will start Tuesday, March 17. Adult passes are available for $300. In recognition of their loyalty and patience throughout this challenging winter, 2014/2015 season pass holders will receive a $50 discount on next season’s Extra Early Bird Season Pass (discount for adult passes only, $250 rate valid if purchased by September 20).

Ski Callaghan is freezing prices for Early Bird Senior Mid-Week and Youth passes at $135 each (Youth attached to Family Pass: $75). Passes are available online or by phone at 604-964-0060 (ext. 2460). Dual area passes for Ski Callaghan and Lost Lake will be available for sale at a slightly later date.

Also for next season, Ski Callaghan is introducing a 100-day guarantee for season passes. If less than 100 days of opportunity to ski or snowshoe can be provided between opening 2015 and closing 2016, season pass holders will receive 1% discount for each day less than 100 as a credit to apply to their season pass for 2016/2017 (some conditions apply).
