Try Olympic Winter Sports this Spring Break: Introductory Programming for Nordic and Sliding Sports
Whistler, BC: Spring Break is a great time for children and youth who want to try a new sport – not just any sport, but exciting Olympic winter sports! Whistler Sport Legacies is offering several programs that introduce participants to both Nordic ski and sliding sports.
The Whistler Sliding Centre is holding an introductory sliding day on Saturday, March 26. No experience is required as participants in the event called ‘Learn to Slide with an Olympian’ will get expert advice and guidance from professional coaches and actual Olympic medalists.
On March 26, introductory sessions for luge, skeleton and bobsleigh are on the schedule. Discover skeleton, suitable for ages 15-24, will be offered from 9:30-11:30am at a cost of $50/person. Discover Luge will be offered from 11:30am-1:30pm, it is suitable for ages 8-14 and costs $35/person. Discover bobsleigh will be offered from 12:30pm and is suitable for ages 16 and older. The bobsleigh school will enable participants to pilot their own bobsleigh down the track, for 2 runs the cost is $200/person for ages 16-24 and $499/person for 25 years & older. At Whistler Olympic Park, children and youth can sign up for four-day multi-sport camps to discover Nordic winter activities like cross-country skiing, biathlon, ski play, snowshoeing, tobogganing/sledding and even beginner ski jumping. The two all-day camps (9:30am-3:30pm daily) take place from March 21-24 and from March 29-April 1. The camps are suitable for participants between the ages 7 and 12, no prior experience is required and all skill levels are welcome. Cost for a four-day camp is $200. Whistler Olympic Park has more good news for families during Spring Break: Ski Callaghan will offer children/youth free ski and snowshoe day tickets on select days midweek (offer valid March 21-25 & March 29-April 1 for ages 0-18). Adults can purchase a package of five tickets for $99, valid any day from now on until the end of the season. Furthermore, there will be a 25% discount on ‘Discover’ lessons from March 21-25.
