“Dog Day” at Ski Callaghan on Saturday, March 10, 2018 - Free dog access for skiing and snowshoeing at Whistler Olympic Park & Callaghan Country

Whistler, BC: Dogs and their owners are invited to “Dog Day” on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Ski Callaghan, the joint venture between Whistler Olympic Park and its neighboring Nordic ski area Callaghan Country. Dogs will get free access to the dog-friendly ski and snowshoe trails when accompanied by a human guest with a valid trail ticket (maximum two dogs to one human). Furthermore, the first 50 dogs through the gates will receive a doggie bag of tasty treats and deals, some of which with grand prizes valued at up to $125, provided by over ten event partners. To round off the day, dogs and their owners are invited to participate in Callaghan Country’s “Powder Pooch Parade” at 1:00pm at the Alexander Falls Touring Centre, fashionably dressed in their best ski costumes.

Pet owners who want to give back on Dog Day are invited to bring a donation to support WAG, the Whistler Animal Shelter, in the form of dog and cat treats, pet toys or gas cards.

“We are one of the only dog-friendly winter venues in the Sea to Sky Corridor, with plenty of on- and off-leash options. Over 200 dogs hold season passes, one of them, Finn, even came out 65 times already this winter”, explains Tim Hope, Managing Director of Whistler Olympic Park. Guests and their dogs have access to over 27 kilometres of dog-friendly cross-country ski trails, plus over 17 kilometres of dog-friendly snowshoe trails.

Dogs and their owners are welcome on the designated dog friendly trail network and designated parking lots. Owners are asked to familiarize themselves with the dog skiing rules, etiquette and dog-friendly trails. More information about Dog Day, trail maps and tips for skiing with dogs are available here.
