Development Luge Program

The Development Luge Program is open for youth ages 13-14 who want to progress in the sport of luge and are working towards moving up into the Canadian Luge Association’s NextGen group.

Through the winter season, the program includes up to six coached training sessions per week (read more about our coaches here). The full-year program also includes a summer training component. Newcomers to the program/first year athletes can choose to train in winter only (without commitment to summer training).

Who Youth (ages 13-14) who want to progress in the sport of luge
When
  • November to March: On-ice luge training and coordination development
  • Summer training/off-ice (May-Oct): Wheeled luge, dryland and flat ice training
Cost
  • 3 sessions/week: $1,800 (no summer training)
  • 5-6 sessions/week: $2,400 (no summer training)
  • Full-time program $3,850 (includes summer training)

All luge athletes must be current members of the BC Luge Association (at additional cost of $30/year, paid directly to BCLA). Memberships available at program sign-up.

Race fees & travel costs not included in program fees.

  • National Team Race Series (select athletes)
  • BC Cup #1: January 15, 2023
  • BC Cup #2: February 19, 2023
  • BC Championships: March 4-5, 2023
  • Canadian Youth Championships: March 11-12, 2023

Registration for this program is open. Athletes wishing to join the full-time program can join the summer program asap, sliding will start in fall 2022. To register and for any questions, please contact us by email.
