Welcome to the Whistler Sliding Centre!

Located above Whistler Village on the side of Blackcomb Mountain, the Whistler Sliding Centre is a world-class bobsleigh, skeleton and luge facility.

Today, winter visitors can tick passenger bobsleigh or public skeleton off their bucket lists in the public sessions. The venue is also home to the BC Sliding Development Centre, which offers programming for all skill levels in bobsleigh, skeleton and luge. It is a National Training Centre and training venue for athletes from all over the world. The venue hosts races for the elite of sliding athletes, highlight of the 2019/20 season will be the Viessmann Luge World Cup (December 2019). In summer, guests can participate in bobsleigh rides on wheels. Year-round, Olympic Sightseeing is available free of charge through a self-guided interpretive tour.

The Whistler Sliding Centre is a non-profit organization, and all proceeds from public programs go directly towards growing sport and supporting bobsleigh, skeleton and luge athletes!

Hours of Operation

We are getting ready for the on-ice season!

Our summer season has ended, and we are preparing the track for the winter season. First sleds will be on ice on October 8, 2019!

  • Athlete training & competitions will commence on October 8, 2019, until late March 2020. Spectating in the public areas is possible free of charge (except special events). Check This Week on Track to see the detailed track schedule & to find out which athletes/teams will be sliding!
  • Learn to Slide sport programming will start in November 2019, until late March 2020. 
  • Passenger Bobsleigh Public Skeleton rides will commence in fall 2019.
  • Self-guided Sightseeing is possible year-round, free of charge! 
    Visitors can access the Whistler Sliding Centre on weekdays from 9:00am until 4:30pm (excl. stat holidays). Site access is not permitted outside these hours. Grab a map from Guest Services and take a tour along the interpretive walk!
  • Summer Bobsleigh will be available again in 2020 (late June to early September)

Public Passenger Bobsleigh Experience Whistler Sliding Centre

Passenger Bobsleigh

Tick bobsleigh off your bucket list - no experience required! Hop into a 4-person bobsled -steered by a trained pilot- and ride down the world’s fastest track, through 10 twists and turns at speeds of 125+ km/hr! Passenger Bobsleigh will be available again in Fall/Winter 2019/20.

Public Skeleton at Whistler Sliding Centre

Public Skeleton

Launch yourself head-first down the world’s fastest ice track and slide like an Olympian! No experience required. Participants take off from the Maple Leaf starting point, passing through six corners and clocking speeds up to 100 km/hr. Public Skeleton will be available again in December 2019 (until March 2020).

Luge Youth Program

Public Skeleton at Whistler Sliding Centre

3-Day Skeleton School

Youth and adults (14+) that want to acquire the in-depth skills needed to race on a skeleton sled can enroll in one of these three-day programs which combine classroom with on-ice sessions. Available in the winter season.

Seasonal Novice Luge Program

Children and youth (ages 8-14) that want to pick up luge as a weekly activity can sign up for the Seasonal Novice Luge Program (November to March). Participants can train one to three times per week. Consistent coaching support ensures progression and skill development. Available in the winter season.

Summer bobsleigh at the Whistler Sliding Centre

Summer Bobsleigh

Tick bobsleigh off your bucket list... in the summer! All it takes is a bobsleigh equipped with wheels, a trained pilot and up to four enthusiastic passengers. Youth 12-18 years slide FREE! Summer Bobsleigh will be available again from late June to early September 2020.

The BC Sliding Development Centre offers programs for ages 8 and up, for all skill levels in bobsleigh, skeleton and luge, from introductory sessions for beginners to full-season training programs. Qualified and passionate coaches look after everyone, from first-timers to experienced athletes!

Sightseeing Whistler Sliding Centre
Take our self-guided interpretive tour and learn about our legacy

Free Sightseeing Access

Year-round, visit us on weekdays between 9am and 4:30pm, and learn about our history and operation, our sports, programs and athletes. Access to the venue is free! Pick up a map and check out the self-guided interpretive tour, find out where you can stand on the Olympic podium, take a photo in an Olympic sled and walk around the famous Thunderbird Corner to the finish dock!
