Seasonal Novice Luge Program

Children and youth that want to pick up luge as a weekly activity can sign up for the Novice Program! Sessions run from November 2020 to March 2021. Participants can train one to three times per week. Consistent coaching support ensures progression and skill development.

General Program Info
Who Children and youth ages 8+, no previous experience needed (Youth C, D and E)
When
  • November 2020 to March 2021:
    On-ice luge training and coordination development.
    • Options to be on ice 1, 2 or 3 times a week (weekdays for Novice program sessions tbd).
    • Up to 32 training sessions over 14 weeks were offered throughout the 2019/20 season.
  • April to October: off-ice.
    • Multi-sport camps and dryland training are offered throughout the summer months.
    • Pre-season dryland training is offered in fall.
    • Athletes are encouraged to participate in as many other sports as possible to develop overall athletic ability.
Cost

Pricing below for 2019/20; tbd for 2020/21:

  • 1 session/week:  $600 +GST/ season
  • 2-3 sessions/week: $1000 +GST/ season
  • 4 sessions/week: $1,300 +GST/ season

Later program start is possible (pro-rated).Payment plans available. Race fees & travel costs not included in program fees.

  • BCLA BC Cup #1 (December 21-22, 2019)
  • BCLA BC Cup #2 (January 17-18, 2020)
  • BCLA BC Cup #3 (February 7-8, 2020)
  • Youth and Junior Canadian Nationals (March 10-14, 2020)
  • BCLA BC Provincial Championships (March 18-19, 2020)
BC Luge Association Membership All luge athletes must be current members of the BC Luge Association (membership $30/year; memberships available at program sign-up).
