Seasonal Novice Luge Program

Children and youth that want to pick up luge as a weekly activity can sign up for the Novice Program! Dryland training runs in September and October, on-ice training from November 2020 to March 2021. Participants can train one to three times per week. Consistent coaching support ensures progression and skill development.

General Program Info
Who Children and youth ages 8+, no previous experience needed
  • September 2020 to March 2021:
    • On-ice luge training and coordination development
    • Options to be on ice 1, 2 or 3 times a week
  • Off-ice months:
    • Pre-season dryland training in preparation to the sliding season is offered in September & October (included in program price).
    • Multi-sport camps and dryland training are offered throughout the summer months.
    • Athletes are encouraged to participate in as many other sports as possible to develop overall athletic ability.
  • 1 session/week (plus pre-season dryland):  $615 +GST/ season
  • 2-3 sessions/week (plus pre-season dryland): $1,025 +GST/ season

Cost includes on-ice training and pre-season dryland (September/October), as well as use of a luge sled. Novice/beginner athletes must bring their own properly adjusted snow sport helmet.

Later program start is possible (pro-rated). Race fees & travel costs not included in program fees.

  • BCLA BC Cup #2 (January 8-9, 2021)
  • BCLA BC Cup #3 (February 12-13, 2021)
  • Youth and Junior Canadian Nationals (March 6-7, 2021)
  • BCLA BC Provincial Championships (March 12-13, 2021)
BC Luge Association Membership All luge athletes must be current members of the BC Luge Association (membership $30/year; memberships available at program sign-up).
