Cross Country Skiing Lessons

Lessons are available for classic (where you ski in set tracks) or skate skiing (where you ski ‘free’/not in the tracks), all age groups and abilities. Speak to our team to find out whether classic or skating would be the right technique for you!

Private Lessons for Adults & Kids (Back in 2021/22!)

Private Lessons (classic and skate skiing, or biathlon) provide an opportunity to receive one-on-one attention from a professional instructor. Whether you have never been on skis before, are looking to learn a specific new skill or want an evaluation of your skillset towards further development, our instructors are looking forward to helping you. Pre-booking is mandatory and all age groups can be accommodated (see below for kids-specific lessons). Book rental equipment for your lesson for only an additional $15/person for youth/adults and $10/per person for kids.

Private lesson 3-pack for $225

Do you want to work on your technique more in-depth? Buy our private lesson 3-pack for only $225/person, and take your 3 lessons anytime during the 2020/21 season (not transferable, timing dependent on instructor availability. Lessons are 1 hour and for 1 person and must be taken between November 27, 2020, and April 5, 2021).

Kids Private Lessons

Let your children thrive on the trails with a customized and fun introduction to Nordic skiing - classic or skate! Private lessons are available for children and youth (12 years and under) at a discounted kids rate, starting at $50/child per hour (see table below for tiered pricing for up to 6 participants).

Our partner, Whistler Adaptive Sports Program, is committed to introducing individuals with a disability to sport, recreation, and therapeutic sport programming. Programs are accessible for people of all ages with physical, sensory, or cognitive disabilities. Whistler Adaptive serves locals in its community and visitors from across Canada and around the globe.

**Kids under 7, or those who require hands-on assistance on skis, will require a parent or guardian to accompany them on the lesson due to physical distancing requirements.

Introductory Group Lessons (Back in 2021/22!)

INTRO TO Classic Skiing - not available in 2020/21

Every new skier should take this introductory lesson. In a small group with physical distancing (maximum 4 participants), learn about your equipment, how to glide, climb hills and stop. A great way to build your confidence and basic skills to explore the trails on your own!

Classic skiing is the traditional cross country skiing technique that involves skiing in groomed tracks. Everybody can pick up this technique quickly and enjoy the beauty of the trails (all trails at Whistler Olympic Park are groomed with tracks for classic skiing!).

Intro to Skate Skiing - not available in 2020/21

In this introductory group lesson, participants (maximum 4) learn the basics of skate skiing techniques on flat terrain, up-hill climbs and descents. A great way to build your confidence and basic skills to explore the trails on your own!

Skate skiing or “free technique” resembles the skating technique used on ice for hockey and speed skating. Skiers skate on a groomed surface without the grooves used for classic skiing. At Whistler Olympic Park, all trails are groomed for skate skiing.
