Sea to Sky MOVES Participaction Challenge 2022

Get Active in June, and help the Sea to Sky win the title of Canada's Most Active Community!

This June, Whistler Sport Legacies together with the Sea to Sky MOVES Council invites all Sea to Sky residents to join the 2022 ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge! This national Canada-wide physical activity challenge rallies communities to sit less and move more together, for a chance to become the country's most active!

Everyone is welcome to join, either as a group (schools, sport clubs, community organizations, businesses) or as individuals! Participate by simply being active and tracking your activity minutes. Every minute you are active between June 1 to 30 counts towards the Sea to Sky's total score. The community with the most active minutes wins the title of Most Active Community in Canada, and with that $100,000 to support local physical activity initiatives!

Funding Boost for After School Programs in June!

We're excited that the Sea to Sky Moves council has received funding for this year's ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge. This funding will be used for our coaches to visit existing after school programs throughout the Sea to Sky Corridor in June, and deliver a variety of sports and physical activities! After school kids can look forward to activities like Zumba, biathlon, field hockey, yoga, pickleball and more.

How To Participate

Be physically active from June 1-30, 2022, and track/submit your active minutes! Everyone can participate, as individuals or with a group (schools, sport clubs, community organizations, businesses). All physical activities count towards your community's total score!

Participate as a group:
  • Sign up your school, club, organization or business.

  • Start logging activity minutes for your group! Within a group, one person can log all the minutes your group has completed. Example: Hockey practices - 10 practices per day, with 14 players x 60 minutes = 8400 minutes for the day!

  • Your "logger" then submits your group's activity minutes, either by email to the Sea to Sky Moves Council, or sign up through the ParticipACTION website

  • Community Centers can also collect log sheets and enter the activity minutes for individuals.

Participate as an individual:
  • Track your activities through the ParticipACTION app. You can also link your Garmin, Fitbit or AppleHealth to the ParticipACTION app and it will do all the work for you!
  • Or sign up and track through the ParticipACTION website
@ All Groups & Individuals:
  • If you post about your activities on social media, tag #S2SMOVES!
What can I win?

In this national challenge, Canada’s Most Active Community will be awarded $100,000 by the ParticipACTION program to support local physical activity initiatives. In addition, one amazing community in each province and territory will also be recognized and receive a cash prize to support local physical activity initiatives. Those tracking their physical activity on the app enter into draws for even more prizing.
