Ski Callaghan to Open November 24 with Limited Terrain
Whistler, BC – Ski Callaghan, the winter destination between Squamish and Whistler, will open for the public as planned this Thursday, November 24. Even though the joint venture between Whistler Olympic Park and Callaghan Country Wilderness Adventures is still waiting for natural snow to fall, cross-country skiing will be possible on ‘Callaghan Gold’, an 800 metre loop that Whistler Olympic Park created out of stored snow from last winter for early season athlete training.
More terrain and activities such as snowshoeing, tobogganing, fat biking and baseboarding will be available once more natural snow is available. Pass holders and visitors are encouraged to check the daily trail conditions updates.
The ‘Callaghan Gold’ trail will be open daily within normal opening hours (9:00am to 4:30pm weekdays and 8:30am to 4:30pm weekends). Access to the ‘Callaghan Gold’ loop is possible through Whistler Olympic Park’s main gate. On the morning of Sunday, November 27, the loop will be closed to the public for the Teck Coast Cup cross-country race until 1:00pm.
Whistler Olympic Park’s Day Lodge as well as the restaurant run by Whistler Cooks will be open daily. The retail shop will offer Nordic and outdoor gear, the rental shop will provide ski maintenance services and private ski lessons will be available through the sport school.
