New Summer Activity at Whistler Olympic Park: Electric Assist Fat Bike Rentals starting July 1

Whistler, BC: Whistler Olympic Park is gearing up for the summer season which will run from July 1 until September 4, 2016 (10:00am until 4:30pm daily). This year, the preparations do not only include the grooming of walking trails and biathlon range for the visitors who wish to go for a stroll or try target shooting, but it also includes the purchase, preparation and maintenance of very special bikes.

“We are excited to offer electric assist fat bikes to our guests this summer. These bikes are ideal for our venue, the fat tires make for a smooth ride even on rockier trails and the electric assist feature lets you climb our hills with ease”, says Tim Hope, Director of Whistler Olympic Park. Already last winter the Park had opened up select trails for fat bike use on snow. “When we looked at the bikes and our trails after the snow melted, we realized that this is a great combination for our summer visitors who want to explore our venue”, explains Hope. The electric assist attribute extends the reach of the bikes and it makes climbing easier, so that guests will even be able to ascent the top of the ski jumps. Four designated fat bike routes are available in the Park, ranging from easy to intermediate/advanced in difficulty.

The bikes will be available for rent at Whistler Olympic Park’s biathlon range on a first come, first serve basis. Price is $15/hour per bike, helmets are included. Only adult bike sizes are currently available, closed toe shoes are required for rentals. Last rentals are available at 2:30pm, last return is at 4:00pm.
