Track Maintenance Worker

Track Maintenance Worker, under the direction of the Manager, Track Operations, executes safety, maintenance and remediation projects to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Bobsleigh, Skeleton and Luge Track at Whistler Sliding Centre.  This seasonal summer full time position requires ability to work weekends and evenings.


  • Repair deficiencies in track line and support infrastructure; including but not limited to weather protection, water system, buildings and grounds work
  • Effect change to the Track surface by concrete manipulation and finishing using a variety of hand power tools, such as jackhammers, concrete saws, jigs, and bagged concrete patch
  • Use hand power tools to develop and enhance safety walls connected to the Track surface
  • Fabricate basic metal structures to support the development and enhancement of safety walls
  • Preform periodic track safety inspections to monitor wear and damage by summer wheeled sleds
  • Maintain inventory, tools and operational areas
  • Foster a strong culture of health & safety; work with Human Resources and Safety to ensure all WorkSafeBC and BC Safety Authority requirements are met
  • Adhere to safe use and practices for tools, product, and equipment
  • Provide manual labour assistance on various tasks and assignments
  • Support all WSL departments, including Guest Services, Events, in the execution of WSC programs
  • Colleague to supply and wear steel toe safety boots while on site
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time at physically demanding tasks

  • Assist the team with other duties as assigned or required

Position Requirements


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Construction and maintenance trade certification and experience an asset
  • Unrestricted BC Class 4 Driver’s License and asset
  • Experience in winter season operations, ice making and in depth knowledge of sliding sport and track requirements
  • Safety conscious to ensure safety of guests, athletes, staff


  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Basic fabrication skills
  • Excellent communication skills: oral and written
  • Willingness to assist other team members (at times outside of the department) as needed and requested
  • Passion for exceptional customer service is essential

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to regularly lift 50lbs
