Lead, Summer Program Operations

Lead, Summer Program Operations is primarily responsible for directing summer operations program colleagues in their duties at Whistler Sliding Centre.  While under the direction of the Mechanic, this role assists in maintaining equipment used in the delivery of Summer Bobsleigh Experience program(s).  Reporting to the Manager, Track Operations and the Mechanic, this role is integrated into the daily delivery of summer program(s).  This seasonal summer full time role requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and maintain public program equipment according to established schedules, procedures, and as required
  • Lead and train summer program operations staff in the execution of their duties
  • Record and document all inspections and maintenance activities
  • Participate in the delivery of WSC public and sport programming as detailed during training
  • Operate fleet vehicles, including sled truck, to facilitate the delivery of WSC programming
  • Engage with guests to ensure a positive experience while visiting our venue
  • Maintain inventory of parts and supplies as it relates to equipment used in public programs
  • Assist Mechanic in regular inspections and maintenance of all WSC fleet vehicles and equipment
  • Assist operations crew in keeping venue safe, organized and presentable; including buildings, roads and grounds maintenance activities
  • Clean and organize shop areas
  • Support teams to execute events and facility rentals as needed
  • Foster a strong culture of health and safety; work with Human Resources, and Safety to ensure that all WorkSafeBC and BC Safety Authority requirements are met
  • Carry out Whistler Sport Legacies’ AIM philosophy:  All Interactions Matter
  • Assist team with other duties as assigned or required

Position Requirements

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • BC Class 5 driver’s license required
  • BC Class 4 unrestricted driver’s license an asset
  • Previous experience directing others while in a leadership roll
  • Previous automotive/mechanical shop experience an asset
  • Body shop repair experience an asset
  • General knowledge of the Whistler Sliding Centre venue, and the sports of Bobsleigh, Luge, Skeleton, as well as high performance training an asset

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
