Guide/Shuttle Bus Driver

Guide/Shuttle Bus Driver is the first point of contact with the Whistler Olympic Park guest and ensures an optimum experience while adhering to guest safety and quality.  Responsibilities include interpretive tours of 1 to 2 hours in length, safe pick-up and delivery of guests between their lodging and WOP, and is cross-trained in all aspects of the department.  Casual seasonal roles require ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Safely drive WSL Bus to and from Whistler or Squamish as directed
  • While transporting guests, provide an informative overview of WSL and in particular WOP (script will be provided)
  • Perform daily checks including pre start up inspections, fueling procedures, shut down and post operational procedures including documentation regarding vehicle maintenance per established protocols
  • Adhere to all safety, operating and maintenance procedures
  • Perform daily cleaning of the vehicle and communicate any issue(s) to maintenance
  • Ensure guest safety at all time during excursions – while guiding tours and/or in vehicle
  • Provide front line service leading instructional/educational programs with groups of 2 – 20 guests through varied terrain
  • Seek solutions and initiative to adapt program for guest needs while participating in programs (route choice, pacing, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain a high level of product knowledge to promote and process rental shop products.
  • Assist with all aspects of the rental/retail shop including operational requirements such as snow clearing as directed
  • Support rental equipment preparation and ongoing maintenance
  • Carry out snow shoe trail grooming and maintenance as directed
  • Adhere to internal control of cash handling procedures
  • Assist team with the execution of special events as required
  • Foster a strong culture of health & safety; work with Human Resources and Safety to ensure all WorkSafeBC and Technical Safety BC requirements are met
  • Carry out Whistler Sport Legacies’ customer service philosophy AIM:  All Interactions Matter
  • Assist team with other duties as assigned or required

Position Requirements

Education/Experience

  • Valid BC Class 4 Unrestricted Driver’s License required
  • Clean Driver’s Abstract and accident history required
  • 1- 2 years commercial driving experience including extreme winter driving experience preferred
  • Satisfactory criminal record check is mandatory prior to commencement of employment
  • Outdoor guiding experience an asset
  • First Aid qualifications an asset
  • Experience working in a customer service position preferred
  • Knowledge and appreciation of cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, biathlon, ski jumping, or sport and recreation facility operations preferred
  • Working knowledge of a ski rental and retail department an asset
  • Familiarity with Whistler and surrounding area an asset

  • Reliable winter transportation (WOP is not serviced by transit)
