Equipment Maintenance Worker, Summer

Equipment Maintenance Worker, Summer is primarily responsible for maintaining the equipment used in the delivery of public programs at the Whistler Sliding Centre.  Reporting to the Manager, Track Operations this role performs and documents inspections and maintenance as directed on a wide variety of devices including public sleds, sport equipment, and fleet assets.  This role also supports sport initiatives and is integrated into the daily delivery of public programs at WSC.  This seasonal summer full time position requires flexibility to work evenings, holidays and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and maintain public program equipment as required, according to established schedules and procedures
  • Record and document all inspections and repairs as completed
  • Inventory, inspect, repair, and document sport program equipment as identified
  • Assist sport and guest service department initiatives
  • Maintain clean and organized shop areas
  • Maintain inventory of parts and supplies as it relates to equipment used in public programs
  • Assist Mechanic in regular inspections and maintenance of all WSC fleet vehicles and equipment
  • Participate in the delivery of WSC public and sport programming as trained
  • Operate fleet vehicles, including sled truck, to facilitate the delivery of WSC programming
  • Assist operations crew in keeping venue safe, organized, and presentable; including buildings, roads and grounds
  • Engage with guests to ensure a positive experience while visiting our venue
  • Support team to execute events and facility rentals as needed
  • Foster a strong culture of health and safety; work with Human Resources, and Safety to ensure that all WorkSafeBC and BC Safety Authority requirements are met

  • Assist team with other duties as assigned or required

Position Requirements

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • BC Class 5 driver’s license required
  • BC Class 4 unrestricted driver’s license an asset
  • Previous experience in the sport of Bobsleigh and maintenance of equipment an asset
  • Previous automotive/mechanical shop experience an asset
  • Body shop repair experience an asset
  • General knowledge of the Whistler Sliding Centre venue, and the sports of Bobsleigh, Luge, Skeleton, as well as high performance training an asset
