Community Fitness Classes

Whistler residents and guests can now participate in a variety of fitness classes to suit busy schedules. Classes with high quality, certified instructors are available Mondays to Fridays, early mornings, afternoons and evenings.

Train in a friendly, non-competitive environment at the new multi-purpose gym space the Performance Hub' on the second floor of the Whistler Athletes’ Centre (Canadian Sport Institute operates the High Performance Gym for carded athletes on the first floor).

All training equipment is provided, such as Bosu, kettlebells, TRX straps, resistant bands and balls, balance boards, pilates balls, body bars, foam rollers, and plyometric soft box tops all heights, discs, hurdles, mats!

Want to build your own class to reach your personal fitness goals? Want to bring your friends together for an early morning, mid-day or evening class? Only six participants are needed to form your custom-made class, on your desired day/time! Book with Tami Mitchell through email or phone at 604-964-0031.

Fitness Class Descriptions Fall 2017

TRX Suspension Training ®

The TRX Suspension Training® is a workout system that uses body weight and gravity to allow you to perform hundreds of exercises. Whether training for elite performance or just starting out, the TRX will help you simultaneously develop strength, balance, flexibility and core stability. If you have never tired it, now’s your chance. TRX Mixer classes will be TRX as well as the use of other body resistant equipment and cardio exercises to ensure a full workout.

Circuit

Do you get bored running on a treadmill or spending 30 mins on an elliptical? Then circuit training is for you. Increase cardiovascular health, muscle endurance, overall health and feel stronger after one class. Each session will start with a warm up then stations with a variety of exercises that provide a variety of strength and cardio exercises followed up with a cool down. You won’t regret coming!

Cardio & Strength

This class will provide you with a variety of activity that helps build your cardio vascular system, and builds muscle endurance, strength, power, agility, speed and flexibility. Each class will include a warm- up, workout, and cool-down. It’s a great way to stay in shape, get in shape and develop a well-balanced body.

Ski Fit

The class will feature a variety of different ski specific exercises from strength, to cardio to flexibility. This class will help prevent injury while making you feel as good as you did at the end of last season. Whether it’s for alpine or cross country skiing or snowshoeing on the trails. Prep the muscles you needs to feel great outdoors. This class can be delivered in a circuit setting or as a group training session.

Body Blast

High energy exercises that helps burn fat while doing bursts of cardio and strength moves. With additional strengthening exercises that fire up muscles which are needed for everyday busy lives. You will feel so alive when you leave this class.

ZUMBA

Zumba is one of the most popular exercise crazes in recent years, and with good reason! There are many health benefits of zumba, including its ability to burn calories, work out the entire body, boost the metabolism, increase endurance, boost mood, aid coordination, and improve confidence. It’s a fun, social dance party- with exercise being the biggest perk! The music is fast, upbeat and contagious, so you can’t help but keep moving.
