Whistler Olympic Park becomes North America’s first location to offer Bromley Baseboard Experience

Monday, March 10, 2014

Whistler Olympic Park has partnered with Bromley Sports to provide guests with an exciting snow activity that is new to North America: Baseboarding. During Spring Break 2014, guests will have the opportunity to experience the new adrenaline sport, which is best described as bodyboarding on snow, where participants slide down a groomed run on a specifically designed board.

“We are thrilled to be North America’s first location to offer the Bromley Baseboard Experience. It is a great addition to our sport offerings and it’s highly addictive” says Roger Soane, CEO of Whistler Sport Legacies. Also Carson Hamm of Bromley Sports Ltd. sees the Bromley Baseboard Experience as a good fit for Whistler Olympic Park: “The Bromley Baseboard Experience complements the existing activities by providing an exhilarating gravity-fed activity that everyone can enjoy.”

The Bromley Baseboard has been developed by four-time Olympian, British skeleton racer and sled manufacturer Kristan Bromley. The patented board design provides optimal ride dynamics with a low profile that keeps the rider close to the snow with a low centre of gravity. Boards have a curved base design and parallel runners that allow for a highly maneuverable board that creates an intuitive riding experience. The Baseboard Experience takes place on a 600m long slope that starts near the top of the ski jumps. It is suitable for everybody over the age of eight and no prior sliding experience is necessary.

The Bromley Baseboard Experience will be offered daily from March 15th to 30th, 2014. Pre-booking is recommended by calling 604-964-0060 x 2460. Baseboarding times are for one hour, which will allow 7-12 runs, depending on group size. One hour time slots are as follows: 9:30am, 10:30am, 11:30am, 1:00pm, 2:00pm, 3:00pm. The cost, including Baseboard rental is $25 per adult and $20 per youth (8-18yrs), group of four: $75 (tax not included, $10 admission fee per vehicle applies without regular Whistler Olympic Park trail ticket or season pass). Sea to Sky residents receive a 20% discount (proof of residence required, not offered on group bookings). Helmets are mandatory and goggles are recommended, both are available to rent for $5 each.
