Whistler gets ready for National Health and Fitness Day on June 6, 2015

Whistler, BC: On Saturday, June 6th, Whistler will celebrate National Health and Fitness Day 2015 at the Whistler Athletes’ Centre at Cheakamus Crossing. Between 11:00am and 3:00pm, a number of sport & health activities, fitness classes and services for children and adults will be offered at the Athletes’ Lodge, the High Performance Centre, and at Bayly Park. The activities will be organized by the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) and Whistler Sport Legacies together with Oros Whistler Gymnastics, the Canadian Sport Institute Pacific and Kinesiology with Majo.

Participation in the activities and fitness classes is free of charge (first come, first serve for classes, sign-up on site starting at 11:00am). For adults, there will be a Spin class (11:00 am), a TRX class (1:00 pm), and a core training class (2:00 pm). For children and youth, there will be physical literacy sessions indoors (starting at 12:00 noon for children 0-6 years and at 2:00 pm for children 6 and older) and fun & games outdoors (weather dependent, starting at 11:00 am, 1:00pm and 2:00pm). For participants of all ages, laser biathlon will be offered at 1:00 pm. Check-in/sign up for all activities is at the main reception desk of the High Performance Centre – just bring your gym/sport gear and participate!

Visitors will also have the chance to taste healthy snacks offered by ‘Podium Fuel’, a unique program by Canadian Sport Institute Pacific designed to assist high performance athletes by providing convenient, sport-specific and nutritious meals to support training. Snacks & cooking tips will be available from 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm in the Athletes’ Lodge kitchen.
