Whistler, BC – “The track is clear for Rolling Thunder” – on June 28th, these words will announce the official start of Whistler’s latest attraction when the Whistler Sliding Centre will launch its brand new summer bobsleigh experience “Rolling Thunder”.

Throughout the summer, residents and visitors to Whistler will be able to experience the thrill of racing down the Whistler Sliding Centre’s world-famous Olympic track, though not on ice, but in a bobsleigh equipped with rubber wheels. Four passengers and a trained pilot will reach speeds of up to 90 kilometers an hour – giving passengers the adrenaline rush and a sense of what sliding athletes experience on ice.

Sliding sessions are offered Thursdays through Mondays between June 28th and September 1st. The activity is even suitable for adventurous families with children 12 years of age and up (guests between 12 and 13 years old will need to ride and be positioned in front of a parent or guardian in the sled, one adult for every child/ratio 1:1), participants under 19 years old need a parent or guardian present to sign their waiver when arriving at the Whistler Sliding Centre. Participants need to weigh between 85lb (39kg) and 285lb (129kg) and need to be between 4’6” (137cm) and 6’5” (196cm) in height.
