Pilot School (target ages 16-26)

Youth and young adults that want to acquire the skills to become a competitive bobsleigh pilot can enroll in one of the multi-day Bobsleigh Pilot School programs, which will be held from November to March. Schools generally occur three times during a bobsleigh season and take 5 days to complete.

In the school, the basic skills needed to pilot a bobsleigh will be taught in theoretic sessions and practiced on ice. Enrolled pilots will begin in non-articulated sleds before moving into an articulated 2-man bobsleigh and learning how to pilot them from Corner 7. Over the course of the week, skills will be developed with the goal of moving up to starting from Corner 3 and being ready to join the Club Sliding program where pilots can further refine their skills and eventually move to the top of the Whistler track. Participation in the Bobsleigh Pilot School includes both driving and braking duties as each participant will trade off with another during a session.
