Sea to Sky Nordic Festival

COME CELEBRATE CANADA'S BEST NORDIC SKIERS AT WHISTLER OLYMPIC PARK!

What is the Sea to Sky Nordic Festival 2013?
The Canadian National Championships in the four Nordic winter sport disciplines Cross-Country (including Para-Nordic), Biathlon, Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined from March 15-30, 2013

What can I expect?
Your country’s best athletes will be competing in the last big national event before the Olympics in Sochi/Russia 2014. Furthermore there will be competitions for Canada’s best young talent in different age groups. Altogether there will be 111 medal events.

Bigger than the Olympics:
With more than 800 athletes competing (over 600 athletes in cross-country, 150 in biathlon, 60 in ski jumping & Nordic combined), the event will be bigger than the Olympics in 2010, when there were just over 600 athletes in the four Olympic disciplines.

Is there an entry fee?
It is free to come up and watch the event on site. If you plan to ski or snowshoe you will need to purchase a ticket at the front gate or Daylodge. More information on rentals, lessons and ski trails can be found here.

Is there parking?
There is plenty of free parking available on site.

I am a journalist wishing to attend. Where can I find information?
Media representatives can find detailed information on accreditation and media services here.

Will recreational skiing be possible despite the event?
90 % of Whistler Olympic Park’s recreational ski trails will stay open during the event. The only trails that will be closed are: Biathlon stadium and trails (closed March 15-20), Cross-country stadium and trails, Neverland and the Stadium Explorer snowshoe trail (closed March 21-30). Backcountry access via Biathlon will be closed for the duration of the Biathlon events March  15-20. You can find more information and updates on trail closures here.

Can I bring my dog to the event?
Unfortunately due to safety reasons dogs are not permitted in event and spectator areas, such as the Cross-country stadium, Biathlon range/stadium, Ski Jump outrun, tobogganing and spectator areas or the sides of competition trails. If you decide to go skiing with your dog before or after the event you can do that on our dog-friendly trails. Dogs are permitted on a leash within public parking areas P1, P3, dog parking areas.

Can I get involved in the event?
Information about volunteer opportunities is available here.
