About Us
Whistler Sport Legacies is a not-for-profit organization responsible for owning, managing and operating three of the 2010 Games venues post-Games: the Whistler Sliding Centre, Whistler Olympic Park, and the Whistler Athletes’ Centre..
Established under the BC Society Act, Whistler Sport Legacies took possession of the venues on June 1, 2010 with the purpose of:
- Providing world class facilities for athletes to discover, develop, and excel in their chosen sport.
- Encouraging a healthy lifestyle by developing programs that encourage participation in sports at a recreational level.
- Utilizing the venues to generate tourism visits and economic spin-off for the region.
- Developing a business model that ensures financial resilience over the long term.
Ensuring that we achieve this purpose are our board members who include representatives from the Lil’wat Nation, Squamish Nation, Canadian Olympic Committee, Canadian Paralympic Committee, Province of British Columbia, Resort Municipality of Whistler and VANOC.
